Work Smart, Not Hard

So Wednesday I called in sick (I may or may not have a kidney infection, but I definitely felt awful.) and nobody covered my desk. So when I came in yesterday, I had 2 days worth of work. And I got it done.

Hence my epiphany that I really only need to work every other day. I seriously think I can get by working my butt off one day, then coming in the next and completing a few time sensitive tasks that take an hour or two, max. Or I could focus and get everything done in the morning and have the afternoons to myself!

But that leaves me with what to do with all my free time. In a perfect world, I could shop online, read fanfic, blog, keep up with Twitter. Ooh, and maybe nap? Then I wouldn’t be so tired when I got home at night!

However, the world I live in is one which our online activity is monitored. So A) They’d figure out they only needed to pay me to be there half as much as they do (and probably load me up with more work), and B) They frown upon social networking on work computers. Those bitches!

So the moral of the story? I have to waste a good 15-20 hours a week that could be spent doing the stuff I screw around with at home instead of keeping my house clean and doing all that other responsible stuff. Life really isn’t fair.
